Why you need art before anything else?
If you take a moment to think of all the things you do every day, every week, every month, year in - year out, most or all of your life, you would see the overwhelming amount of mental and physical energy you need to make it happen. The sheer volume of it will crush you, mentally and physically. The ritual of a few weeks of vacation a year is an invention to make you spend any money you saved, forcing you back to work for more. In two weeks you are back where you started, with thoughts of the next vacation pulling you through simply because it's the brake you need from the job you hate.
Our mental capacity is far greater then our physical strength. The medical profession has finally recognized this and now advise patients to be with family during times of illness, or to get a pet in order to strengthen mental capacity and help with any necessary physical recovery. This is good, but it's not enough. We're better than that. We deserve more than that. This is merely putting a band-aid over a compound fracture.
If you surround yourself with fine art, your mental state will reach its full capacity and help your physical health. You will be happier and healthier all your life, and this is priceless. It is art that helps man reach his full potential; a piece of divinity here on Earth.
